Patchwork 3D is continuously evolving to make high-quality rendering more accessible for design, engineering, and marketing workflows.
The Patchwork 3D 2025.1 release focuses on refinements to the GPU Path tracing engine, improving everyday usability and visual results without changing your existing workflows.

Here is a Path tracing rendering with Global Illumination and the Denoiser activated.
Magnify the picture to see the difference: right-click on it and select “Open image in a new tab”.
These upgrades to the GPU Path tracing engine make rendering smoother, faster, and more realistic:
Matter
- Denoiser delivers sharper images in less time.
- Depth of Field adds subtle focus effects for more natural, camera-like visuals.
- Enhanced Global Illumination for Matte materials manages better shadow handling on compositing planes, making it easier to integrate 3D objects into 2D backgrounds.
Shaper
- Invert the behavior of the “Transform children surfaces with parent” button to have direct access to the mode where children’s surfaces follow the parent transformation.
Interop
- Alias Wire (.wire) support has been upgraded to 2026.
- Add the possibility to disable materials import when importing FBX.
- Improved import of colors from assemblies and parts when importing CAD data with Acis.
Together, these features help users showcase projects with higher realism and efficiency.
- 🎨 Design teams can move faster during reviews, since the Denoiser provides clean images without waiting for full Path tracing convergence.
- 📣 Marketing teams can generate product shots with cinematic depth of field effects.
- 🛠 Engineers can achieve more realistic compositions when placing 3D objects onto 2D backgrounds, thanks to improved global illumination on Matte materials.
