We are pleased to announce the release of Accel VR 2026 X8.

This update focuses on two areas: extending the range of supported VR headsets and refining the tools used to run and monitor sessions on CAVE installations.

Context

VR-based design and engineering reviews increasingly involve contributors who don’t all have access to the same hardware. Until now, running an Accel VR session meant coordinating around a specific headset or CAVE configuration. Accel VR 2026 X8 removes some of that friction, both for individual headset users and for teams operating CAVE rooms.

Benefits

Broader headset compatibility

Native support for HTC Vive Focus, Meta Quest, and Varjo XR headsets. Reviewers can now join a session with a wider range of devices instead of requiring one specific model.

Faster, more controlled session starts

  • Review sessions now open directly to the intended viewpoint when loading the first product, using the new favorite camera setting.
  • Facilitate the Accel VR use on a workstation with multiple network interfaces by selecting and saving the preferred address at startup when several interfaces are detected.

CAVE monitoring and synchronization

  • Monitor rendering performance in real time through the CAVE windows FPS display available in Pilot.
  • New settings enable software synchronization across the different display windows configured for a CAVE, complementing any hardware-level synchronization from graphics cards.
  • Performance on large scenes is more reliable than ever with improvements to our Culler Unit.

Example use case

A design office conducting weekly review sessions with distributed teams could provide remote reviewers with a wider selection of headsets, while the review room’s CAVE maintains its dedicated FPS monitoring and software synchronization for client-facing sessions.

These changes are available now in Accel VR 2026 X8.
